Alice Virginia (Freeman) Blake

–

Newport, Delaware

Alice Virginia (Freeman) Blake passed away peacefully at home in Hampton, GA on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at the age of 85. She was born on September 15, 1936, in Trappe, MD to the late Margaret Young-Freeman and Frisby Freeman.

Alice received her education through the Talbot County School System. In 1957, Alice was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Frederick Nelson Blake. This union built a strong family, in which they raised their children in the Caroline County area.

Not only was Alice a dedicated mother and wife, but she also worked at various places of employment, such as Carmen’s and Rickanii’s Pizza as a cook. For more than 14 years, Alice served as a Domestic Engineer at MEBA Engineering School in St. Michaels, MD, from which she retired.

Alice truly loved the Lord. While living in Maryland, she was saved in 1982 under the leadership of the late Bishop George Fletcher, and she served as a faithful member at Farmer’s Memorial COGIC, Preston, MD, working diligently as a member of the usher board and adult choir. After relocating to Georgia, Alice briefly attended Jonesboro COGIC before joining Cornerstone Christian Ministries COGIC, pastored by Elder Rodney Cook, Sr. in Conley, GA. Although health tried to interfere with her attendance in the service, Alice remained a faithful, devoted servant until her passing. When not able to attend service, she watched on Facebook Live and praised the Lord from her bedside.

Alice loved to spread the love of God any chance she had. She had a great love for birds, butterflies, and flowers of all kinds. In her down time, when not reading her Bible, she would either be found coloring, putting a puzzle together, or reading. It didn’t matter where she was, if she saw a unique leaf or stone on the ground, she was picking it up.

Alice always expressed her love and concern for her grandchildren, great grands, and great-great grands. She didn’t stop there. She also shared so much love for her extended family as well.

In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was preceded in death by three sons, Reginald Freeman (Elaine), Darrell Blake, and Keith Blake (Vanessa); three brothers, Frisby Jr, William, and Vernon Freeman.

Alice leaves to cherish her memory, four children, Peggy Davis (Joseph, loved like a son of her own), Vincent Freeman (Angela), Janice Blake, and Kevin Blake (Freda); 14 Grandchildren, which includes, Regan and Katya whom she reared them in her home; 35 Great-grandchildren, four Great-great Grandchildren; three sisters, Catherine Jones, Ellen Jenkins, and Joyce Johns (Harry); two brothers, Roland Freeman (Betty) and Antony Freeman (Inez); two God-children, Lakesha Haynes and Gerren Mouring, three GA sons, Pastor Rodney Cook, Sr. (Zellecka), Dr. Paul Fortson (Charlitta), and Minister James Goodson (Lynn); her Cornerstone Church family; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
