Benjamin Michael Hoshaw

Benjamin ("Benny") Michael Hoshaw, age 39, passed away peacefully at his home in Lewes, DE surrounded by his wife, children, and parents on March 20, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer.

Originally from Winfield, IL, Benny graduated from West Chicago High School in 2004. He attended the College of DuPage and later DeVry University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in network engineering.

After moving to Fort Myers, FL, Benny met his wife Gretchen Ehret Hoshaw in 2013. They were married in 2015 and have been raising two beautiful children.

A lover of the outdoors and the beach, Benny and his family moved to Lewes in 2023. Benny loved an adventure. He loved going to festivals and fairs, going for long walks, riding his bike, hiking, and listening to really good music. Most importantly, Benny was a family man. Despite his challenges, Benny helped coach his son's Little League team in 2025 and never missed the opportunity to go to his kids' baseball, softball, or basketball games, their plays in community theater, or searching for horseshoe crabs on the beach with his beloved nephews, Bryce and Luke.

Benny is survived by his wife, Gretchen, his daughter Jacqueline (10), his son Julien (8), his mother Lavern Yeary Hoshaw, his father John Hoshaw and his wife Debbie, his brother Justin and his wife Hiliary, his brother Daniel, parents-, sisters-, and brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Those who knew and loved Benny and those who were touched by his life are invited to attend a local celebration at 11 am on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 200 Second Street, Lewes, DE.

Please wear whatever color brings you joy; black is not required. Light refreshments will follow in the parish hall.
