Christine Cranmer

–

Clayton, Delaware

Christine Priscilla Lake Cranmer was born October 9, 1951 to Mabel Evelyn Lake and Fred D. Brown in Milford, Delaware.  She always loved to have fun and frequently reflected on how she got in trouble with her grandmother for climbing trees outside their house.  She grew up playing the piano and singing in the choir at Metropolitan United Methodist Church.

Christine graduated from Lake Forest High School when it was located in Harrington, DE. She was a skillful seamstress who made various outfits, choir robes, as well as clothes for her and her daughter.  She even made a wedding gown for Leasa Smith, her daughter's best friend, whom she claimed as a niece.  She was also an accomplished baker who was well known for her pies and cakes.

While Christine was a young mom, she went back to school to become a Certified Nursing Assistant, later becoming certified as a Licensed Practical Nurse and started her career at Milford Manor.  She would later work for the State of Delaware at Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, where she remained for 25 years before retiring; she specialized in geriatric services.

Christine never liked to sit still, she was always on the go.  She loved to spend time with her friends, family and loved ones.  She was generous, loving and fiercely loyal, giving the last that she had to anyone who asked.  She was a taxi for everyone who knew her and needed a ride.  Her doors were always open to her family and friends, she provided so much love and support to everyone she knew.

Christine converted to Jehovah's Witness and was a faithful member of the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall of North Dover Congregation for many years.

Christine was preceded in death by her mother, father, eldest son Gregory Lake and second son Nathaniel Lake.  She is survived by her husband John Cranmer, sister Patricia Anderson, daughter Lorraine Lake, youngest son Derrick Lake, stepdaughters Cynthia Northrop and Marlena May, stepson Joseph Cranmer, nieces Dr. Trina Lake Phillips (who was like a daughter) and Kailyn Anderson, grandchildren Nashaya Hampton, Nathaniel LakeJr., Darren Lake, Marcus Lake, Quindon Lake, Jordan Lake-Young, Michala Engles, Jalin Fisher-Jones, James Lake, Seriyah Lake, Aaryonna Saunders, Patricia Deloach and Aiden Lake-McDowell, and a host of great grandchildren whom she loved tremendously.
