Dustin’s Journey

Dustin Matthew Sammons, affectionately known as “D’MAC” by his father, peacefully transitioned into God’s loving arms on October 29, 2025, at the age of 32.

Born on February 15, 1993, Dustin was a devoted father, a loving son, brother, and friend to many. He will be remembered for his beautiful smile, contagious laughter, and warm heart that could brighten any room.
Dustin loved spending time with his son, Khary Sammons, and his nephew, TaiMeir Titus, who were the joy of his life. He enjoyed playing video games, cooking, cheering for his favorite team, the Cincinnati Bengals, and creating lasting memories with his family.

Dustin was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Kimberly Sammons, his grandmother, Barbara Velez, and his aunt, Alphonsa Wilson.

Dustin is survived by his loving father, Claude Hackett; sister, Shiloh Hackett; his precious son, Khary Sammons; and paternal grandmother, Margaret Hackett. He also leaves behind aunts Beatrice Hackett, Sheila Hackett, and Tara Hackett; uncle Rick Hackett; and a host of cousins including Leslie, Iisha, Ke’Andra, Shasha, Michael, Maurice, Michelle, Jay’Den, Za’Niah, and many younger cousins who adored him.

Dustin shared a deeply special and unbreakable bond with his sister, Shiloh Hackett. Shiloh was more than a sister, she was his backbone, his biggest cheerleader, and his source of strength through life’s highs and lows. She stood by his side with unconditional love, no matter the circumstance. Dustin often spoke of how much he admired Shiloh’s strength and how much peace her presence brought him. Their connection was one that could never be broken; rooted in laughter, loyalty, and an understanding that only siblings who truly love each other share. She was his heart, and he was hers. Even in his absence, that bond remains unshakable, eternal, and filled with love that will never fade. He also shared a special connection with his “bonus sister,” Zaire, and lifelong friendships with Rory Donte Sheriff, Darrius, and Brandee (Khary’s mother).

As a child, Dustin had a passion for karate, earning several belts, and loved dirt bikes and John Deere trucks. He was a proud graduate of the Smyrna School District, where he made lasting friendships and memories.

Dustin’s love, laughter, and spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Though he is gone from our sight, his light will continue to shine in our memories and through the lives he touched.
