James Baines Jr

–

Dover, Delaware

James Henry Baines, Jr., known to many as “Jimmy”, departed this life at the age of 59, on December 10, 2024, at his home in Dover, DE, surrounded by family, after a diagnosis of brain cancer. James was born on June 28, 1965, at Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE, to James Henry Baines, Sr., and the late Joyce Scott. He graduated in 1981 from Ceasar Rodney High School in Camden, DE.

Jimmy was a hardworking man who always provided for his family. He loved his fiancé, Jennifer, his kids, grandkids, family, and friends. Jimmy was the type of person who would give the “shirt off his back”. His favorite saying was “I’m a boss and mean it!” Many of his friends and family gave him the nickname “Loudmouth”.

Jimmy attended Pentecostals of Dover Church prior to becoming ill. He would worship with his family on Sundays. For several years he worked as a janitor at Bally's (Dover Downs) Casino and going to the casino was one of his comfort zones which is befitting as to the reason he would get a job working at the casino. His most recent job was in construction, which he held until the time of his illness.

Jimmy enjoyed listening to old school R&B and Hip-Hop music and was always ready to attend a concert or musical event. He loved spending time with his family and friends, having BBQs and eating crabs, shrimp, and watermelon which he loved. Jimmy loved attending concerts, car shows and the beach with his fiancé Jennifer Bartz. One of his most favorite past times was watching his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. He often represented his love for the Dallas Cowboys by wearing Cowboy’s sports gear. He had two pets, Ginger and Princess, which he loved dearly.

Preceding his death were his mother Joyce Scott and his sister Brenda L. Baines.

The precious memories of James “Jimmy” Baines will be cherished by many, he leaves his father James Henry Baines, Sr., of Painter, VA., step-dad Leven Scott, his fiancé “partner in crime” Jennifer Bartz, of Dover, DE, his sons Craig Elzey, Jamare Freeman, Zachary Bartz, Kevin and Andrew Wilkerson of Delaware, two brothers Anthony Baines of Dover, DE and Prentice Parker (Shaquiche) of Virginia Beach, VA, two sisters Angela Baines of Smyrna, DE and Kenya Baines of Virginia Beach, VA, four nieces, Jalisa Baines, Brione Baines, Tionea Baines all of Delaware and Alijhane Trower of Virginia Beach, VA, three nephews Dontrell Baines (Christine) of Sawanee, GA, Tevon Baines of Dover, DE and Ryricka Custis of Oakwood, VA, grandchildren Jayven, Craig Jr., Demarion, Demarcus, Jr., Damaijah, Kade, Makinizie, Malaysia, Xavier and Xander, his favorite daughter-in-law Cherry White, godmother Adalyn Neal Donald of Dover, DE, godsisters Josette Stevens Cooper, Ginny Stevens, Tmi Stevens, and Benyette Rodriguez all of Dover, DE, godbrothers Gary Stevens, Keith Stevens and Bennie Stevens (deceased) all of Dover, DE, close friends, Pierre Downs, Tony Freeman, Brett Cosby, James (Sonny) Bell and George Foster (Boo), a host of many other aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.
