Jonathan Jeffcoat

Jonathan Jeffcoat, 87, of Dover, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday,
August 28th, 2026, at Bay Health Hospital, Dover, DE.

Jonathan was born on December 1, 1938, in Swansea, SC. He later moved to
New Jersey, where he was educated in the Matawan school district. Later,
moving to Brooklyn, NY, and meeting his wife, Arlene Coy, they both
relocated to Dover, DE, where they built their lives together.
Jonathan was employed by Barry’s Van Lines. He was a devoted husband.
He enjoyed reading the Bible, horse racing, playing cards, traveling, and
spending time with his family.

He was a member at Solid Rock Baptist Church, where he served as an
usher and received many awards.

Jonathan was predeceased by his parents, Nathaniel and Mattie Mae
Jeffcoat; his brothers, Nathaniel Jeffcoat, Melvin Jeffcoat, Rosevelt
Jeffcoat, and James Jeffcoat; sisters, Annie Ruth Jeffcoat, Lucy Rivera,
and Shirley Woodley; sons, Robert Jeffcoat and William Jeffcoat;
Bonus son, Eric Coy; mother of his children, Helen Jeffcoat;
and grandson, Shurod Jeffcoat.

He leaves to cherish his memories with his wife, Arlene Jeffcoat;
his daughters, Joann Jeffcoat Jackson (NJ) and Dolores Jeffcoat
(NJ); bonus son, Lamont Coy (Sonya), GA; his sister, Mattie Ross (Norman), AZ; his brothers, Esau (PA) and Matthew Jeffcoat (DE); sister-in-law, Mildred Jeffcoat; and brother-in-law, Darren Whitney; 8 grandchild, 20 great-grandchildren, and
seven great-great-grandchildren; a special family member, Darlene (Robert Bryant); cousin, Lena Hedges-Bradley (NY); and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family member and friends.
