Parnell Brittingham

Parnell Brittingham, affectionately known as "Wowee," was born on February 20, 1965, to Evelyn H. Coleman and Parnell T. Biles. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on August 21, 2026.

A proud graduate of the Cape Henlopen High School Class of 1983, Parnell distinguished himself as a member of the varsity basketball team, contributing to three consecutive all-conference appearances. Following his graduation, he honorably served in the United States Army, where he had the opportunity to travel abroad and gain invaluable life experiences. After his military service, Parnell held various positions throughout his career, most notably dedicating several years to Grotto’s Pizza.

Prior to his military service, Parnell married his childhood sweetheart, Angannette Weatherly. Their enduring partnership, rooted in lifelong friendship, was blessed with two sons, Sherrod and Carlos, and further enriched by beloved grandchildren. He cherished his family deeply, often delighting his grandchildren with original songs and playful games.

Parnell was known for his unwavering loyalty to the Washington Commanders football team, his fondness for Pepsi, and his love of chocolate cake. He brought joy and laughter to those around him with his unique sense of humor and imaginative stories.

Parnell’s legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Parnell was preceded in death by his father, Parnell Biles; grandmother, Rose Brittingham; mother-in-law, Willie Mae Weatherly; and niece, Shanicka Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his two sons, Sherrod Brittingham and Carlos Brittingham (Makita); his ex-wife, Angannette Weatherly-Brittingham; his mother, Evelyn Coleman; his sister, Tosha Barnard; his two brothers, Barry Biles and Brian Biles; his seven grandchildren, Antoine, Journey, Tyrin, Jade “Momma,” Caleb, Amar’e, and Maddox; his best friend, Tracy “Cotty” Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
