Stanley Jackson

–

Clayton, Delaware

Stanley E. Jackson, affectionately known as "Ed,” passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, August 31, 2026.

Stanley was born August 9, 1958, at home in Kenton, Delaware, to Madeline Jackson and Robert Swain. He attended the All-Colored School Kenton 140-C in first grade. He continued his education through Smyrna School District through high school. He later enlisted in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He soon began his career as a self-employed Carpet Installer. He worked diligently for over 40 years, until his death.

In 1983, Stanley became the proud father of his one and only son, Devin. He loved his son so much and taught him everything he needed to know to become the man he is today.

In 1991, Stanley married the love of his life, Yvette Henry. In 1992, one Easter morning, Stanley gave his life to Christ. He joined Emmanuel A.M.E. Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Luther L. Walker, Jr., and was a member of the Voices of Emmanuel, in which he was one of the only two males in the group. He was also presented with an Outstanding Volunteer Service Award as well as an award for his untiring service at Emmanuel.

In 2012, Stanley earned the title Pop-Pop. He was so excited when his granddaughter Amyah entered this world. She was his sunshine on a cloudy day.

Stanley was a hardworking man who enjoyed things that kept him busy and outdoors. He took pride in keeping not only his yard but his mother's yard as well, in tip-top condition during summer months. He truly had a God-given talent as a handyman as well as being a "Jack of All Trades".

During football season, you would hear him rooting for his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers. He loved fishing, hunting, bowling, playing softball, going to the racetrack, listening to his favorite radio station, which was 105.3, and dancing. He loved all his family and always kept it 100% real with them. He spoke what was on his mind. He loved to make them laugh; he was so full of life. We will hold on to the many memories that will live on with everyone he encountered.

In addition to his parents, Stanley was preceded in death by three sisters Beverly, Jacqueline, and Melody; four brothers Henry, Keith, Robert, and Wayne; one brother-in-law Robert Watson; and his in-laws Warner "Pete" Henry and Cleo Henry.

Stanley is survived by his wife of 35 years, Yvette; one son Devin, one granddaughter Amyah; one brother Renn (California); one sister Ginny Stevens (Dover), three brothers-in-law Duane Henry (N.C.), Glenn Henry (Dover), and Coleman Rothwell (Smyrna); three sisters-in-law Daneen Cuthbertson (FI), Naomi Jackson (Dover), and Pam Jackson (Camden); two special friends Alfonso Sadler and Rodney Wisher; two god-daughters Jamie Santana and Latanya Woods; one special cousin Bruce Clements, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
